Industrial Wastewater Treatment System

Physicochemical Treatment System

A system that uses physical phenomena or chemical reactions or both of them.

Screen Equipment that is normally installed at the inlet of a water treatment system and removes solid matter in the influent water.
Sedimentation Separation Unit A unit that precipitates and separates solid matter in the water by utilizing gravity.
Flotation Unit A unit that separates suspended solids in the water by flotation, utilizing the difference of density between separated matter and water.
Filtration Unit A unit that filters and separates suspended solids in the water by filter media packed in the unit.
Activated Carbon Adsorption Unit A unit that removes organic soluble substances by the adsorption of activated carbon media packed in the unit.
Membrane Separation Unit A unit that filters water using membranes with small pores by pressure differences, and that produces clear filtrate.
Ion Exchange Unit A unit that removes unnecessary ions from the wastewater by the reaction of ion exchanger media packed in the unit.
Catalytic Denitrification Unit A unit that removes ammonia content in the wastewater by oxidizing ammonia to nitrogen with the use of catalysts.
Sludge Thickening and Dewatering Unit A unit that reduces the volume of sludge by thickening and dewatering treatment.

Aerobic Biological Treatment System

A system that utilizes aerobic microorganisms, which need oxygen, to decompose soluble organic substances in the water.

Standard Activated Sludge Process A system that decomposes and processes organic matter by mixing wastewater and sludge containing aerobic microorganisms, and aerating them.
Membrane Bioreactor An activated sludge process that has membrane units in the aeration tank to separate sludge from water.
Suspension Carrier Activated Sludge Process A process that keeps suspended carriers in the activated sludge reaction tank to promote microorganism growth and to improve biological treatment efficiency.
Stationary Carrier Activated Sludge Process A process that installs fixed biomass carriers in the activated sludge reaction tank to promote microorganism growth and to improve biological treatment efficiency.
Contact Oxidation Process A process that immerses contact material in the activated sludge reaction tank to promote microorganism growth and to improve biological treatment efficiency.
Trickling Filter Process A process where influent wastewater is sprayed over filter media, and organic substances in the water are decomposed by microorganisms growing on the surface of the media.
Biological Nitrification and Denitrification Process A process that removes nitrogen content by oxidizing ammonia in the influent water to nitric acid using aerobic microorganisms, and then decomposing to free nitrogen by anaerobic microorganisms.

Anaerobic Biological Treatment System

A system that anaerobically decomposes organic components in the wastewater to carbon dioxide and methane gas. The generated methane gas is utilized as fuel.

Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Process A process where influent wastewater is introduced at the bottom of the reactor and flows upward in the reactor while contacting granules of anaerobic microorganisms. Organic contents are anaerobically decomposed by the microorganisms to carbon dioxide and methane gas.
Expanded Granular Sludge Bed Process A process that has taller reactors than the conventional UASB reactors and higher rising speed of the gas and liquid in the reactor. The process can treat with higher COD loadings.
Conventional Anaerobic Treatment Process A process that treats influent wastewater using methane fermentation by fully mixing with suspended anaerobic microorganisms in the reactor.
Fixed Bed Anaerobic Treatment Process A process that has fixed media for microorganisms in the reactor, and that treats influent wastewater by methane fermentation using anaerobic microorganisms attached to the surfaces of the media.
Membrane Separation Anaerobic Treatment Process A methane fermentation process that uses membrane filtration to separate sludge and water from fermented liquor.
Dry Methane Fermentation Process A process where organic sludge with dry solid contents between 15% and 40% is methane fermented.
Auxiliary Units for Anaerobic Treatment Auxiliary units that are attached to anaerobic fermentation systems, i.e. reactor heating units, desulfurization units, gas combustion units, etc.
